After an extremely successful season with the 2013 Mylan World TeamTennis champion Washington Kastles, Martina Hingis  recently returned to the WTA Tour making her doubles debut at the Southern California Open alongside partner Daniela Hantuchova. While Hingis and her partner lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champs Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, her second comeback certainly has fans excited to see her back in the game.
MYLAN WTT LEAGUE DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT: SCOTT HANOVER

If tennis is being played in Kansas City, it's a safe bet that Scott Hanover is involved. Since the late 1980's, this World TeamTennis League Director has volunteered his time to encourage others in the area to pick up a racquet and play.

Throughout the years, Hanover has noticed a steady progression in both quantity and quality in the Missouri Valley Section. This trend originally started in 2007 when Hanover captained his 4.0 team to the National title, the first in Kansas City history. Since then, his local leagues have thrived and they even had six differ

ent teams qualify for Nationals back in 2011.

"I think that created a lot of excitement because the Kansas City leagues really expanded," Hanover said.  "Other teams saw that we were doing well so it encouraged them to work hard and play well to go to Nationals."

Hanover is currently responsible for helping thousands of youth and adults play tennis and thanks World TeamTennis for creating the convenient format.  "There are so many great things about the format that it really just sells itself," he said."Once people participate, they get hooked and are pretty diligent about trying to play on a team because they have so much fun with it. It is really my life mission or goal to get people to play tennis because it is what I love to see happen."

This can-do attitude is what helped the Kansas City resident earn the coveted Delaine Mast Award in 2004, an honor which is presented to the top Mylan WTT League Director in the country.  Despite this great achievement, Hanover knows that there is still more work to be done as he plans to continue to run leagues and help his tennis community.

"I am pretty involved with tennis both locally and nationally," Hanover said.  "I think it is important when you are involved in the tennis industry to give back and I'm happy to do it."
