ided into four flights for round-robin play. Purcell and her team dominated Flight "A" with three wins over Spain, Argentina and Germany. After
overcoming the Australian team in the semifinals, team USA took on Great Britain for a chance to defend the Cup for the seventh consecutive year. In a total team effort, Purcell, Barker, Wright and Karwasky defeated Great Britain for the third year in a row to retain the Connolly Cup title.
"Being the rookie on the Connolly Cup Team and a rookie on red clay, there was a lot to learn," said Purcell. "Who would have known a doubles point could go that long! I must admit it was a life highlight to stand holding the Connolly trophy with my teammates."
