With the OC Breakers grinding it out on clay the past few weeks, Steve and Treat have found great success over seas.
In Paris, Steve Johnson battled it out in his three qualifying matches to get the honor of playing in his first main draw of Roland Garros. In the first round, he faced Albert Montanes and fell in a hard fought 5 set match. Steve and other young Americans have made waves over in Paris by proving they can play (and dominate) on the red clay.
Also having success in Europe is Treat Huey. He and doubles partner, Dominic Inglot, who were the #3 seed, advanced to the finals of the Power Horse Cup in Dusseldorf, Germany. The duo took out the #1 seed in the semifinals and then fell to Begemannt/Emmrich in the championship match. Treat and Inglot are in the main draw at Roland Garros and will take on Kamke/Mayer in their first round match.
And lets not forget our ladies! Coco Vandeweghe played her first round match at Roland Garros and lost a tough 3 set match to Yaroslava Shvedova (2010 and 2012 Roalnd Garros Quaterfinalist). And Maria Elena Camerin had a close first round loss in qualifying to Stephanie Vogt 6-4, 6-4.
