As part of the Orange County Breakers community initiatives program for 2013 and in conjunction with the Orange High School athletic department, Breakers Rookie Steve Johnson made hundreds of teens feel very special by visiting his alma mater, Orange High School this past Monday, May 6.
He spoke candidly to 500 student athletes in the gym, aka The Dome, about his time at OHS, the commitment he has made to become the best he can be on tour, and he answered several questions from teachers, faculty, and students. Each kid left The Dome with a smile on their face and excitement in their eyes! You could sense how grateful the kids were by having a professional athlete come and take the time to visit with them.
This exciting day did not end with Steve only talking to all the student ahletes, but he then went to the tennis courts and drilled with the Varsity and JV Boys & Girls tennis teams. He also had the teams try and return his MONSTER serve to win prizes from his sponsor, ASICS. By the way, he can crank his serve up to 133 mph!
By the end of the day, everyone at Orange HS got autographs and pictures and Stevie left with 500+ new fans! Boy do they LOVE him!
