Driving down to Medford to attend the Oregon Nonprofit Leaders Conference, I had the opportunity to listen to several hours of OPB and watch the Oregon landscape roll by. By the time I got to the hills outside Roseburg, I was reflecting on the upcoming conference and the various nonprofit leaders that I would be reconnecting with. I was looking forward to hearing from my colleagues about what motivates their teams. What are their challenges? How are they thinking through changes to their work in light of increased regulations and changing laws in Oregon?

After two days of great conversations, I had the answers I was searching for - it's all about the mission and the people! One leader reminded a group of us attending one of the sessions, "Mission and values serve not only as guideposts for your work, but fuel the passion of your team of staff and volunteers." FAQ's: FLSA For Nonprofits: Proposed Overtime Reforms
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has proposed new regulations aimed at expanding overtime protections for millions of employees in the for-profit, nonprofit, and government sectors. While this legislation will impact all sectors, it is currently unclear exactly how Oregon nonprofits will be affected. Oregon Youth Development Council Annouces Youth & Innovation Grant
The Youth & Innovation Grant is a community-based grant designed to assist existing efforts in improving education and workforce success for youth who are disconnected from the education system and labor market. The target population of the Youth & Innovation: Entrepreneurship and Career Readiness Grant is Opportunity Youth - young people ages 16-24 who are disconnected from the education system and the labor market. Apply by June 8th! Learn more
