NONPROFITS & THE OREGON MINIMUM WAGE

Jim WhiteI hope that you will indulge me in a slightly longer letter this month. It is on a critically important topic regarding the minimum wage in Oregon. The Oregon legislature is currently considering several bills including, HB2008, HB2009, and SB610, related to raising the minimum wage. Lawmakers are suggesting several different approaches for a phase-in of the minimum wage over several years. Proponents of raising the minimum wage cite social and economic justice, with several well-written articulations of why this is an issue that nonprofits need to support and embrace. Read more

Next Generation Initiative: Oregon Summer Fellowship
This program is for current graduate students who are enrolled in a Master or Ph.D. program. Their starting dates span early May through late June, depending on the academic calendar of their university, but in all cases their appointments are for 40 hours per week spread over 10-weeks. Learn more
Next Generation Initiative: Hatfield Fellowship
This program is specifically designed for recent graduates who have completed their Master or Ph.D. program within the last year -- or who will receive their degree by June 30, 2015.  Their appointments are for 32 hours per week spread across 32 active work weeks, beginning July 6, 2015. Learn more
