NEW ISSUES. NEW ANSWERS. NEW WORLD.

FROM NAO

 Reflections from Jim

Oregon has been in the national news lately for all the wrong reasons. As Brown begins her stint as Oregon's Governor, a firestorm of accusations continue to swirl against the Kitzhaber administration regarding transparency and ethical standards. Nonprofits should take heed of the conversation and be prepared to answer questions on how we recognize and commit to our own ethics and accountability.

At the Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO), we have been working behind the scenes for several months to forge a unique partnership on nonprofit ethics and accountability. We know that nonprofits have a responsibility to their boards, their funders, their constituents, and to the public to be responsible stewards of their unique missions. But who sets the standards for ethics in nonprofits? Where can a nonprofit turn to if they are unsure of the ethics behind their practices?
