Jim WhiteI hope that you are all enjoying the fall weather and successes in your end-of-year programming. 

I want bring your attention to a critical issue which is important to nonprofits in Oregon. When Congress controversially enacted the first federal minimum wage 75 years ago the wage was set at 25 cents an hour. Nine revisions later, it now stands at $7.25 an hour with the last revision over six years ago. Oregon currently has the third highest minimum wage in the country at $9.10 per hour after Washington DC and Washington state. Some argue that adjusting earnings to a living wage salary will reduce poverty and stimulate growth in the economy; others argue that markets are the best determinants and that raising minimum wages in Oregon would depress job growth and investment, making Oregon less competitive to other states that do not have similar standards.
