But your advocacy remains vital!
Last week, by a vote of 277-130, The United States House of Representatives approved the America Gives More Act of 2014 (H.R. 4719).
This important piece of legislation packages five provisions aimed towards encouraging charitable donations by individuals and businesses alike.
"This legislation is vital to our nonprofits and their ability to better serve communities," said NAO Executive Director Jim White.
The first three provisions make permanent a set of charitable measures that expired on January 1st: the IRA charitable rollover, the enhanced deduction for donating land conservation easements, and the enhanced deduction for donating food inventory.
The fourth measure extends, through April 15th of next year, the deadline for claiming charitable donations on the previous year's tax filing. The fifth and final measure simplifies to 1 percent the excise tax rate for foundations' investment income.

Your voice is still needed!
The House continues to consider permanent status for the expired tax extender provisions, while legislation to renew the full package of tax extenders for two years sits stalled in the Senate.
