From the Desk of Jim White
Dear Friends,
Nonprofits throughout Oregon work hard to elevate our communities and address the unmet needs of our citizens. We are also aware of how precious resources are to our communities and we work hard to ensure we maximize the donations provided by our supporters.
It is with this in mind that I wanted to alert you all to three key public policy issues on which NAO has been working at the state and federal level.
- Sequestration Looms and Nonprofits Must Pay Attention!
- Preserving the Charitable Deduction: Testimony Provided to the US House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee
- NAO Supports Oregon House Bill 2060

The Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Nonprofit Employers
Learn About Oregon's Health Insurance Exchange & Insurance Options
Just like thousands of other nonprofits, the Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO) is a small employer. Every year, we experience the challenge of covering our 18 employees with quality medical insurance in spite of significant costs that consume a rising portion of NAO's budget.
To better understand Cover Oregon, Oregon's emerging health insurance exchange, as well as the insurance options that may be available to nonprofit employers, NAO Operations Director Alice Forbes spoke directly to the people behind several of these efforts.
Find out what she learned.
