Have you found the right AGF Affinity Group for you?
AGF members represent a wide range of funding interests. Our affinity groups
are designed to meet the needs of a type of funder and/or to better address a  certain issue important to funders. As AGF has evolved, affinity groups have become the primary vehicle for member networking and education. We now proudly offer seven affinity groups, including Corporate Funders, Education Funders, Evaluating for Impact, Health Funders, Professional Development Group, Rural Funders, and Small/Family Foundations Group. Please check out these short videos of our affinity group leaders discussing what their group does and what programs they have planned for 2013!

Make a Difference
Arizona Foundation for Women's Live and Learn program is currently seeking mentors to help women work toward financial independence and self-sufficiency. Mentors are invaluable to Live and Learn and contribute directly to the success of the program. Each woman enrolled in Live and Learn is matched with a mentor who provides support, guidance and encouragement throughout her journey. Importantly, mentors provide hope and friendship.

Seeking volunteers with
* a heart for giving back by helping others recognize their strengths
* a positive, patient and flexible manner
* between 3 and 5 hours per month to commit to your mentee, whether via text, phone or face-to-face

Robert Withers
Manager
Pastoral Care Donor Advised Fund of the Arizona Community Foundation
and
Kent & Martha Withers Donor Advised Fund of the East Tennessee Foundation

Name:
Bob Withers

Hometown:  Knoxville, Tennessee

Family:
Bob is married to Peggy (3rd generation Arizonian). Together they have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.

Education:
University of Tennessee [1964]; Thunderbird [1968]; ASU [1972 MBA]

First and Most Interesting Job: After graduating from Thunderbird, Bob took a job with American Express and was Manager of its office on the US Air Force Base in Alconbury, England, near Cambridge. Since Bob was a history major at the University of Tennessee, the area fascinated him.

Pathway to Philanthropy: When Bob was in college, his younger brother was diagnosed as mentally challenged. Due to a very successful grandfather, Bob's father was able to retire and spend his time trying to find a cure for his son. In the process of helping his son, he became very active in the Knoxville community. In later life he became Bob's mentor for community service. Since Bob's uncle was an Episcopal minister and his father was active in the Church, Bob was taught the importance of helping the needy. Several years ago, at his parent's death Bob inherited the management of the 2 donor advised funds.

Fund's Area of Interest On each of his fund's grants, Bob tries to collaborate with other donors. Recent Arizona Fund's grants fall into 3 Major areas: Homelessness & Hunger - Family Promise, Homelessness & Hunger Funders Collaborative & St. Luke's Food Pantry; Education - BHHS Legacy Backpack Buddies/Assistance League/Phoenix Collegiate Academy; Medical - Mission of Mercy Murphy School District Clinic with Rotary 100 and BHHS Legacy. Bob also is involved with Rotary 100, SVP, Episcopal Community Services, Pastoral Care Associates and United Way [Tocqueville Society]. Bob's Tennessee Fund continues to support charities that were started by his parents.
