On September 29, 2014 Governor Brown signed into law SB 1077
, which requires the state of California to design and implement a statewide pilot program to study the implications of a road charge model no later than January 1, 2017.

Road charging means drivers pay to help maintain the roads based on the distance they travel or a period of time they use the roads, rather than the amount of gasoline they consume.

How You Can Participate

Go to the comments page and leave your thoughts or questions regarding any aspect of the California Road Charge Pilot Program.

The California Chamber of Commerce today released the list of new employment laws scheduled to take effect in 2016 or earlier that will have an impact on businesses in California.
CalChamber also released the latest CalChamber Capitol News Report, which features Erika Frank, CalChamber vice president, legal affairs, and general counsel, and Jennifer Barrera, CalChamber policy advocate, calling attention to the many challenges California employers face-including juggling new laws involving gender pay equality, employee time off for school or child care, and another hike in the minimum wage.

State of Emergency on Tree Mortality
Courtesy the Berryhill Bulletin

The Governor declared a State of Emergency due to the high rates of tree mortality in rural areas. In late September, I made the request to the Governor for a State of Emergency and am very pleased that he took action.

To date the counties of Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Tuolumne, and Tulare have passed resolutions
declaring county emergencies because of damage caused by these fires.

The staggering number of dead or dying trees in forested communities has directly contributed to the devastating wildfires. Now, as winter approaches, we have the very real threat of those dead trees coming down and creating an incredible public safety risk. Declaring a State of Emergency frees up dollars to help communities begin the process of removing the impacted trees.

Among other provisions, the State of Emergency increases resources needed to identify high hazard zones for wildfire and falling trees and to prioritize tree removal in these areas. It also calls for state agencies to take several actions regarding removal of hazard trees.

Ambassadors Corner
Outgoing Chair
TERI BROCKMIRE
The Itty Bitty Balloon Shop

I started my Ambassador Journey waaay back in 2009, being new to this and being quite shy - I knew that in order to push myself and my business, I needed to become involved in the TC Chamber. And the Ambassadors were a great place to start. I submerged myself within the Ambassador Committee, and in 2012 I accepted the position of Ambassador Chair. Before I knew it, a one year term rolled into 3 years. Joining this committee allowed me to break out of my shell, get involved, make new friends and I learned so much about making my business a success.
It is time to pass the baton ~ I welcome Jeanne Shenefelt as the new Chair to this wonderful committee. I have no doubt she is going be fantastic!!!
Thank you to all who have made this journey a wonderfully crazy and totally fun experience. I will see you all at the next mixer...don't forget **Get involved in your Chamber and make a difference!**
