Large Development Projects on Agenda Tonight
The next Village Board meeting is tonight, Monday March 7 starting at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees will be discussing several important topics, including a courtesy review for a Termax building expansion at 200 Telser Road and an Ordinance approving the proposed Sparrow Ridge Plaza at 1075-1077 South Rand Road.
The meeting agenda is available, as is the full meeting packet. Please join us at this meeting or watch it live on LZTV.
Termax Courtesy Review
This item is for consideration of a proposed 80,000 square foot warehouse addition to the existing 19,616 square foot Termax Corporation facility at 200 Telser Road. Termax manufactures metal and plastic fasteners used in the automotive industry and is a major employer in the Industrial Park.

This is an initial courtesy review of the project, prior to the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewing site details in future public meetings.
To view the available concept plans for this potential expansion, visit LakeZurich.org. If you would like to provide online feedback on this redevelopment, please do so by engaging the Village with an online input survey.
Sparrow Ridge Approval Ordinance
This item is consideration of final approval of the Sparrow Ridge planned unit development at 1075-1077 South Rand Road, consisting of a gas station, child daycare center, and a 10,000 square foot retail building that may contain a drive-through restaurant with outdoor seating.

The advisory Planning and Zoning Commission held public hearings on this proposed development in January and February, ultimately recommending approval to the Village Board. There are several conditions of approval that are included with the recommendation of approval.
Development plans for Sparrow Ridge are available at LakeZurich.org.

Recycling Electronics is Getting Harder
|
Five SWALCO Recycling Sites to Close
"The agency was faced with an unanticipated mandate to pay for collecting electronics, and regrettably we cannot afford to pay more when we are already providing nearly $150,000 per year in manpower and equipment at the five collection sites," according to SWALCO Chairman Larry Mount.
SWALCO is working with other units of local government to amend the current State law to ensure better access to electronic collection programs and to address the lack of funding to pay for the recycling sites.
In the meantime, Lake County residents should continue to use the five collection sites located in Waukegan, Highland Park, Grayslake, Grant Township, and Cuba Township, which will remain open until May 1. More info at swalco.org.

Flood Insurance is Available to All - Not Just Those in a Flood Zone
|

Lake Zurich is in the National Flood Insurance Program
Spring showers are coming and the Village of Lake Zurich wants to make sure you are ready. Since the Village is an active member of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), all residents of Lake Zurich are eligible to obtain flood insurance. The NFIP is a federal program that you can participate in through private insurance companies. Rates are set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and do not differ from company to company...so there is no point to "shop around for flood insurance." Typically there is a 30-day waiting period from the date of purchase to when your policy goes into effect. That means now is the best time to buy flood insurance. Click below to see your property Risk Profile, estimate flood insurance premiums, and find a local agent. How Can I Get Covered?
