A Spotlight on Transparent Local Government

Board to Provide Review of Early Development Concept

The next Village Board meeting is on Monday, December 21 at Village Hall.  Trustees will be discussing several important topics, including a potential development of the 18 acres at the southwest corner of Route 22 and Quentin Road, located north of the Coventry Creek Estates Subdivision.

The full Board agenda is available at LakeZurich.org.

The preliminary development of this property includes a retail component facing Route 22 and a portion of Quentin Road, as well as approximately 68 single family houses.

After the initial Village Board courtesy review, this proposed development will be reviewed in detail at a Public Hearing of the Planning and Zoning Commission at a future date.

To view the site plans and other details for this potential development, visit LakeZurich.orgIf you would like to provide online feedback on this development, please do so by engaging the Village online.

Celebrate Holidays Safely

Keep Your Family Safe with Some Quick Reminders

The holidays are a joyous time of year.  Give your family the best gift this year by keeping them safe from fire by following these tips from the Lake Zurich Fire Department:

*Never leave lit candles unattended or within reach of kids or pets.

*Don't overload outlets!  Connect no more than three strands of light together.

*Keep real trees watered at all times.  Dry trees are a significant fire hazard!

*Do not block exits with trees or decorations.  Smoke and fire can spread faster than you think.

*Test all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms TODAY.

*Dispose of your tree once it begins dropping needles.  It's time to go.

Lake Zurich Gains New Partner in Regional Dispatch Center

Tower Lakes Joins Lake Zurich Area Emergency Dispatch

Lake Zurich's strategic objective of service cooperation with other agencies has been advanced with the approval of an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Tower Lakes, which has requested the service of Lake Zurich's regional dispatch center to provide emergency services to their community of approximately 1,300 people.

Lake Zurich can accommodate the increased dispatch activities from Tower Lakes without the need for expansion while continuing to provide service to Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods, Island Lake, and the Lake Zurich Fire Protection District.

New Goose Chaser Arrives on Scene

Kara Steps in for 10-Year Veteran Mollie

Since 2003, Bob Warren and his dog Mollie, have been volunteering valuable services to Lake Zurich by keeping Breezewald and Paulus parks clean of geese.  For over 10 years, Mollie and Bob have visited the parks and beaches to keep geese away.

Recently, Mollie the Goose Chaser has retired and Bob has acquired a new addition to his household, Kara.  Kara is an 8 year old black Labrador Retriever who is registered by the American Kennel Club and holds a Hunting Title Certificate as a recorded Master Hunter.

Bob believes that Kara was destined to join Lake Zurich as the new Goose Chaser and, as her birthday of December 25 suggests, become a gift to his household.

Strangely enough, Bob and Kara have been connected through the Lone Ranger, as Bob once rode a rodeo horse named Silver and Kara was born from a dog registered through the American Kennel Club as Nick of Time Lone Ranger

Please make sure to say hello and introduce yourself to Bob Warren and Kara if you see them at our parks.
