Downtown Development Proposal

Downtown Block A Redevelopment

The Village will be hearing a preliminary redevelopment proposal from StreetScape USA for the Block A site adjacent to the lakefront promenade.  This initial review will occur at the September 21 Village Board meeting.

Streetscape USA has expressed interest in developing the 1.7 acre site with 17 detached single family homes that would have lake views.

The development would be similar to SchoolStreet in Libertyville or Floral Avenue in Skokie, which include principles of New Urbanism and traditional neighborhoods such as front porches and high levels of walkability.

Clothing and Textile Recycling

Drop Off at 505 Telser Road

Clothing and textile recycling is now available in Lake Zurich. The Village has partnered with The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) to host and maintain a site to collect clothing and textiles. The collection bin is located at the Community Services facility at 505 Telser Road.

All clothing, accessories and household textiles are accepted. These items range from jeans, socks, coats, bedspreads, sheets, paired shoes, stuffed animals, purses and curtains. Please ensure that all items are in sealed plastic bags. All items must be clean, dry and free of odors.

The average U.S. citizen throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year. Nearly 100% of donated textiles are recycled.  Clothing and textile recycling has a major impact on reducing greenhouse gasses.
