Transparency Portal for Open Government

Have you checked out Lake Zurich's Transparency Portal for Open Government?  It's a one-stop shop for a whole bunch of information that you might want to know about the Village or municipal operations.  It's so good, it even won the Sunshine Award from the Illinois Policy Institute.  Questions about something?

Grilling Fire Safety

Keep These Safety Tips In Mind

We may be entering the dog days of summer, but grilling season is still in full swing. Nationwide, grill fires on residential properties result in an estimated average of 10 deaths, 100 injuries, and $37 million in property loss each year.
  • Only use your grill outdoors.

  • Keep grills away from the home, deck rails, and NOT under eaves or overhanging branches.

  • A three foot zone around your grill is required to keep kids, pets, and homes safe.

  • Charcoal grilling on a wooden deck is not recommended.  If it cannot be avoided, the use of a pan under the grill to catch falling charcoal embers is a good idea.

  • If you have a gas grill, open the grill before lighting.

  • Grills should be cleaned after each use to remove grease that can start a fire.

  • Place coals in a metal can once they have cooled.

  • Never leave your grill unattended.
Zurites Park Playground Renovation

The Heights Neighborhood Gets New Playground

The Village strives to budget for one playground replacement each year.  This year there is $55,000 available from the Park Improvement Fund for the replacement of the Zurites Park playground, which is over 20 years old.

The current Zurites Park playground is expected to be removed the first week of September.  The replacement of the playground equipment in Zurites Park is set to be installed and completed no later than end of September.
