Village Board Approves 2015 Road Resurfacing Program
|
$1.9 Million Road Program to Focus on Manor & Ancient Oaks Subdivisions The Lake Zurich Village Board has approved this year's resurfacing program, which will use an estimated $1.9 million in non-home rule sales tax funds to resurface approximately 4 miles of streets, including most streets in the Manor, Ancient Oaks cul-de-sacs, a large portion of Miller Road, and minor drainage improvements to mitigate localized flooding. Upon completion of the proposed improvements, the roads should have an estimated service life of 15-20 years with proper maintenance. For a map showing exactly what roads are targeted for the 2015 program, please visit LakeZurich.org. |
Bike Safety Campaign - Wear Helmet, Win Ice Cream
|
Use Your Head and Wear Your Helmet
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Lake Zurich Police Officers will be on the lookout for children who are wearing their bicycle helmets. Kids who are "caught" wearing their helmets will be issued a coupon for a free kid's ice cream cone courtesy of Oberweis Dairy and Ice Cream.
All children who are given the free coupon will also be given a Safety Citation. The perforated portion of the Safety Citation will be used as a raffle ticket where one lucky child will win a brand new bicycle and helmet at the end of the campaign courtesy of George Garner Cyclery in Lake Zurich.
