Village Proposes New Fiscal Year Budget to Start May 1
|
Balanced Budget Proposed for 2016 with Important Investments in Strategic Priorities
The Village's new fiscal year begins on May 1 with a proposed annual budget that totals $51 million, which reflects a decrease of $837k or 1.6% from the current years budget.
For the first time in several years, the proposed fiscal year 2016 budget includes an operating surplus of $5,100.
Consistent with the Village's 2014-2019 Strategic Plan, the proposed budget advances the strategic goals of financial sustainability, development, infrastructure investment, service sustainability, and civic engagement.
There will be a public hearing on the proposed budget at the April 20 Village Board meeting before Trustees consider formal adoption. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting. The agenda and proposed budget are available below.

Need a Different Size Refuse Cart?
|
Residents Can Swap Sizes in June for Free
Waste Management delivered new refuse carts to residents in March. After using the new cart for a few weeks, some residents may realize they would rather have a different size cart. For this reason, in June residents may request that Waste Management exchange their cart for a different size container for no additional fee. To request a different size cart call Waste Management at 1-800-796-9696.
There are three cart sizes available, a 96-gallon, 64-gallon, and a 35-gallon. All cart sizes are on display in the lobby of the Village's Community Services Facility, 505 Telser Road. Read on at LakeZurich.org...

Spring Clean-Up Reminders
|
Tips on Home and Property Maintenance
With the warm weather upon us, Lake Zurich gets to work on spring clean-up and home improvements. As we get to work on improving our homes and neighborhoods, please remember these important Lake Zurich property maintenance ordinances: Landscaping - Maintain lawn so it does not exceed 8 inches in height.
- Maintain shrubbery and trees so as not to encroach over public sidewalk.
Vehicles - No vehicle may be parked on the front lawn or obstructing public sidewalk Boats, RVs, trailer and other vehicles have restrictions on where they may be parked dependent on their size. Refer to Village requirements or contact Community Services for details.
- Vehicles shall be operable.
Swimming Pools - All swimming pools over 2 feet in height are required to obtain a building permit and install a proper safety barrier.
Structure Maintenance - Display address numbers using a color contrasting from their background, a minimum of 4 inch high numbers.
- Keep trim and wall exteriors free from peeling paint and rotting wood. Re-paint/re-stain and replace rotting wood when necessary.
- Maintain handrail and guard rails.
Storage/Debris - Outdoor storage is not allowed. Outdoor storage may include construction materials, yard tools, etc.
- Maintain yard free from litter/debris. Clean animal waste regularly.

Hydrant Flushing Starts in April
|
Ensuring the Delivery of Reliable Water
Lake Zurich's annual hydrant flushing program begins the week of Monday, April 20, 2015 and ends two weeks later on Friday, May 1, 2015.
The flushing of hydrants may cause tap water to be temporarily discolored. The discoloration is not harmful and running the tap for a few minutes will clear it up. The Village recommends that you do not wash clothes the day before, the day of and the day after hydrant flushing for your area since discoloration may occur outside of the scheduled flushing area.
