Budget Workshop Meeting - April 11th

The Village Board will be meeting as a Committee of the Whole to discuss the proposed fiscal year 2016 budget at the Police Department Community Room on Saturday, April 11 at 9:00 am.  The public is encouraged to attend.

This annual meeting will include a budget message from the Village Manager, financial overview from the Finance Director, questions and comments from the Village Board, and the Village Board direction on various funding priorities.  The meeting agenda is available at LakeZurich.org.

The proposed budget for fiscal year 2016 is also available at LakeZurich.org.

Survey Reminder - Did You Take It?

Have you given your input on how you think the Village should invest in the important issue of storm water management?  If you have not taken this short survey, please remember to do so.  Your opinion is important for future public policy considerations.

Currently, there is no dedicated funding source to address storm water management needs (e.g. - localized flooding caused by severe storm events).  Over the years, the addition of roads, driveways, parking lots, rooftops, and other surfaces work to prevent ground absorption, which greatly increases the runoff volume during severe storms.

Below is a link to a short survey on possible funding sources that could be implemented to help fund future storm water management improvements.

Yard Waste Collection Has Started

Tips for Yard Waste Collection

The Village's yard waste collection program with Waste Management has started and will continue until November 30.  Please remember these important points:

  • Yard waste collection is on the same day as your normal refuse/recycling collection.

  • Yard waste must be placed in bio-degradable bags or cans that are clearly marked as landscape waste.  Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.

  • The cost of yard waste collection is covered through the quarterly fee residents pay to Waste Management.  Stickers are not required.

  • There is a $3 per month option for Waste Management to provide a 60-gallon or 90-gallon yard waste collection container.  If interested, please call Waste Management at 800-796-9696.

More information on this program is available at LakeZurich.org.

Hydrant Flushing Starts in April

Ensuring the Delivery of Reliable Water

Lake Zurich's annual hydrant flushing program begins the week of Monday, April 20, 2015 and ends two weeks later on Friday, May 1, 2015.

The flushing of hydrants may cause tap water to be temporarily discolored.  The discoloration is not harmful and running the tap for a few minutes will clear it up.  The Village recommends that you do not wash clothes the day before, the day of and the day after hydrant flushing for your area since discoloration may occur outside of the scheduled flushing area.

Police Lot is "Safe Transaction Zone"

Online Buyers & Sellers Can Make Deals in Police Parking Lot

If you are going to buy or sell items online, consider coming to the Police Department parking lot to make your transaction.  In response to the inherent risk when dealing with an online stranger, the Lake Zurich police are offering its public parking lot as a safe haven for people making online transactions on websites such as Craigslist.

The Police Department parking lot at 200 Mohawk Trail is well-lit and under 24-hour video surveillance.  Officers are also coming and going at all times of the day and night.

You can find some great deals via online marketplaces, just please be safe when doing so.
