IDOT Begins Rand Road Construction

Rand Road (US 12) Work Begins Next Week

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin Rand Road/US 12 resurfacing early next week (currently set to start on Tuesday, March 31).  IDOT will be resurfacing Rand Road/US 12 from Ela Road to Lake Cook Road.

The work beginning next week will focus on Rand Road/US 12 between Quentin Road and Ela Road.  Rand Road/US 12 will be reduced to one lane in either direction during the project, which is expected to be finished by the end of July.

Please keep in mind that the reduced lanes in either direction will slow commute times and increase congestion.  Drivers are encouraged to plan extra time into their commutes or find alternative routes until IDOT finishes.

Spike in Work Without Permits

Permits Required for Home Improvement Projects

To help ensure safe construction and protect home values, the Village wants to remind residents that it is against the law to do home improvement work without a permit.  Violators will be charged a fine of up to two times the total permit fee.

Doing work without a permit increases the risk that a project will be built in non-compliance with construction standards, which compromises the health and safety of a home's current and future inhabitants.

Lake Zurich has adopted nationally recognized building codes that reflect safe and modern construction practices.  Community Services Department staff has many years of construction experience and applies these standards during permit review and inspection.

To help ensure safe construction, avoid costly fines, and safeguard home values, please remember to obtain a building permit from Community Services.

Residents who suspect work taking place without a permit are asked to contact Community Services at 847-540-1696 or the Police Department at 847-438-2349.

Finance Committee Releases Final Report

The Illinois Route 53/120 Finance Committee has made its final report available online.  This report is being distributed to the Tollway Board for review and consideration.  For the first time in decades, there is now broad consensus about the parameters under which this project could proceed and have the support of a wide spectrum of people and organizations that care about Lake County's future.

Is the expansion project feasible?  Should the Tollway build the project?  Click below for the final Illinois Route 53/120 feasibility analysis.

Neighborhood Block Parties

Plan Your Spring Block Party Now!

Spring has arrived and now is the time to get your neighborhood block party requests submitted to the Village.  Block parties are one of those things that help make a community feel like home and the Village wants to encourage family-friendly, safe block parties.

The Village is happy to provide barricades and temporarily close low-traffic streets.  We can even have police officers and firefighters stop by for the kids on a fun courtesy visit.  Please click below for more information.
