Village Urges State to Maintain Full Funding

Village Board Declares State Shared Funding Should Be Protected

At the March 16 Board meeting, Lake Zurich Trustees unanimously approved a resolution urging the Governor and Illinois General Assembly to protect full funding of the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF).

LGDF revenue is of great importance to Lake Zurich as a reliable funding source for municipal services such as:

  • 24-hour police / fire protection and paramedic service
  • Parks and recreation programs
  • Street and sidewalk infrastructure
  • Water, sewer, and utilities
  • Building and zoning services
  • Snow and ice removal

The proposed LGDF cuts to Lake Zurich would cut some $1 million every year from local municipal services.  The loss of this State-shared income would result in the elimination of jobs, increased local taxes, program and service cuts, and increased debt burdens that would be felt by all citizens.

New Waste Management Carts Rolling Out

Helpful Reminders on New Carts

Waste Management is in the process of delivering new refuse carts to residents with the rate reduction to become effective April 1.

Things to Remember...

  • These new carts are for refuse and are not to replace recycling carts.  The Village will now have a standard cart for both refuse and recycling.  Keep your old recycling cart.

  • What do you do with your old refuse cart?  If you no longer want it, you can place it curbside and Waste Management will collect it for free.  Clearly mark it so the crew will know it's intended for disposal.

  • During the month of June, residents may exchange their refuse cart for a different size for no additional cost by calling Waste Management at 800-796-9696.  Otherwise, a $25 fee will apply.  Beginning July 2016 and once every 12 months thereafter, residents may also request a different size refuse cart and avoid the $25 fee.

  • All three cart sizes remain on display in the lobby of the Community Services Facility, 505 Telser Road.

Citizen Engagement: Survey Results

Survey Results on Route 53/120 Extension

In order to gain local citizen input on the proposed Route 53/120 extension project and gauge the level of public support, the Village administered an informal survey on this topic.  637 responses were received.
