State of the Village Address - March 9, 2015

The Village of Lake Zurich will present the community's inaugural 2015 State of the Village Address: A Conversation with the Community on Monday, March 9, 2015 starting at 6:00 pm at Ela Township Public Library.

Mayor Tom Poynton and Village Manager Jason Slowinski will take a look back at 2014 accomplishments as well as the upcoming 2015 agenda as Lake Zurich implements a five year strategic plan that focuses on financial sustainability, development, infrastructure, service sustainability, and civic engagement.

All residents and businesses interested in Lake Zurich are encouraged to attend this inaugural
event.

Join Us at Our Open House - 3/4/15

The Village is holding an Open House and Home Improvement Workshop on Wednesday, March 4 from 6pm - 8 pm at the Community Services Facility, 505 Telser Road.  All residents are invited to attend.

This event will be of particular interest to those planning a home improvement project this year - whether it's a room addition, remodel or an outdoor living space.  Building and zoning staff will be available to answer questions and discuss important details of your upcoming project.

A short presentation on Home Improvement Basics will start at 7 pm.

The Community Services staff is committed to working with residents and contractors to ensure building projects are safe and meet all standards.  For more information on permits and inspections, please visit LakeZurich.org.

Offender Watch

Know the Risk in Your Neighborhood

Lake Zurich Police have partnered with OffenderWatch for an interactive online database of sex offenders.

The information is updated real time by members of the Lake Zurich Police Department to lessen the anxiety of residents by proactively alerting them should an offender/predator move within proximity to them. There is no cost for the alert service and no limit to the number of addresses to be monitored.

New Tool to Protect Homeowners

Fight Against Identity Theft

Lake County has implemented a new free service called Property Check for homeowners to use in the fight against identify theft and mortgage fraud, the two fastest growing white collar crimes.

The new 24/7 service allows residents to sign up online to receive an email or text, alternating them when certain documents have been recorded against their name or property.

The Property Check service is available online at the Lake County Recorder's Office.

Recycle Right.  Recycle Often.

Tips on Making Lake Zurich Greener

On average, households in Lake Zurich are recycling about 17 pounds per week.  As important as it is to recycle, recycling the correct materials is just as important.

Always remember these 3 simple rules:

By taking the time to recycle right, all items placed in the recycle bin can be recycled.  If garbage is placed in the recycle bin, all of that material becomes garbage and must be disposed of in the landfill.
