Skate the Lake at Paulus Park

Ice Skating Now Open

Ice skating rinks on Lake Zurich are located in Paulus Park near the fishing pier.  Ice skating is available during park hours from dawn until 9 p.m.

A flag system is used to indicate when it is safe to skate on the lake.

A green flag indicates the ice is safe for skating and six or more inches of thickness is present.  A red flag indicates no ice skating is permitted as the ice is not thick enough.

Call 847-438-5146 ext. 9 for updated skating conditions.  If there is not a current update, the message that you hear is the current condition.

If you see someone fall through the ice, call 911 and wait for emergency personnel to arrive.  Do not go out on the ice as you may become a second victim.

Ice Fishing Derby - 2/15/15

Bring your ice fishing rod and try your luck at the free Family Ice Fishing Derby on Sunday, February 15.  Registration begins at 12:30 pm and the fishing derby runs from 1:00 pm - 230 pm.  Participants should report to the fishing pier at Paulus Park.

Lake Zurich is stocked with bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, white crappie, yellow bullhead, and yellow perch.  Holes will be pre-drilled into the ice for participants and trophies will be awarded.  This is a catch and release event for all ages.  We will have free hot cocoa while supplies last.

For more information, please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 847-438-5146.

Join Us at Our Open House - 3/4/15

  • Why is snow plowed into my driveway?

Thinking About That Summer Home Improvement Project?

Submit Your Permit Application Early to Beat the Rush

It's always best to give yourself more time than you might think to get started on your warm weather home improvement project.

The Village is encouraging homeowners to submit permit applications to the Community Services Department as soon as possible to beat the annual spring time rush.

Here are some helpful tips to ensure your project is ready to begin at the start of construction season:

1)  REVIEW WEBSITE.  Visit LakeZurich.org and review the permit and inspection page.  Any questions?  Call us at 847-540-1696 or email Carol.Lustig@LakeZurich.org.

2)  CHOOSE CONTRACTOR.  Community Services is working on your behalf.  We will make sure your project complies with safety standards.  For your protection, make sure your contractor is registered to work in Lake Zurich.  Click here to find out.

3)  APPLY EARLY.  Staff can review permit applications faster in the cold weather months, such as right now.  Thus, it's best to apply early.  Once a plan is approved, a building permit is good for one year.

4) ATTEND THE HOME IMPROVEMENT WORKSHOP ON MARCH 4.  From 6pm to 8pm, Community Services will have an open house and home improvement workshop, including a presentation on Home Improvement Basics.  Come with your questions and our staff will be available to discuss important details of your project.

More information on the Village's building and zoning operations is located at LakeZurich.org.
