Residents Band Together to Make it Through Winter

Help Clearing Fire Hydrants and Sidewalks

This winter, residents and business owners are being asked to please help dig out fire hydrants located on or adjacent to their property.

Consider "adopting" a hydrant or two closest to your home or business this winter by keeping them clear of snow.  Snow should be removed about three feet away from the hydrant in all directions with a pathway cleared between the hydrant and the roadway.  Please exercise caution when shoveling because of potential for vehicle traffic nearby.

If you identify a damaged or leaking fire hydrant, please call Community Services at 847-540-1696 to report it.

Equaly important is keeping sidewalks clear adjacent to properties along school routes, parks, and recreation centers for the safety of our school children and pedestrians.  Please take the time to shovel the sidewalk along your property or within your complex.

Public works crews do their best in snow removal operations but cannot always clear all areas as fast as they would like.  By joining together as a community and helping to keep our neighborhood sidewalks clear, we will make it through this winter together.

  • Why is snow plowed into my driveway?

  • Will the Village come back and plow the snow that was left on my driveway?
  • The parkway area in front of my home was damaged by Village snowplows. Will the Village repair it?
