Whatever Your Choice, Use Your Voice and Vote on November 4
At this point in the election season, we are all tired of the political commercials and endless campaigning. Thankfully, there are only a few days left.
There has been a lot of information presented to the Lake Zurich community regarding the home rule referendum, which appears on the ballot this year. Below are four scholarly articles written about home rule government in Illinois:

Trick-or-Treat Hours
Lake Zurich's trick-or-treat hours are on Halloween, Friday, October 31 from 4:00-8:00 pm.
We ask that motorists please be extra cautious while driving through the community during this evening. Find out what else you can do to help keep your family safe with these Halloween Safety Tips.
The Kill on Old Mill
Make sure you stop by "The Kill on Old Mill" for the scariest haunted house in Lake Zurich. Located at 115 Old Mill Grove Road, the local house has been an annual haunt for the community for many years.
Things just haven't been quite right here since the elderly pumpkin farmer disappeared. We reckon he shouldn't have planted his crops so close to the old, run down cemetery. Over the past year the mayhem has spread and claimed even more victims. Will you be next...?

Leaves in Street Can Cause Flooding |
Leaf Collection Reminder
Fall leaf collection will be occurring throughout Lake Zurich until the end of November.
As a reminder, leaves should be raked into the parkway within 4 feet of the curb, but not over the curb and into the street. Please try to keep leaves out of the street.
As seen in the above picture, when leaves are raked into the street, maintaining a storm sewer system becomes difficult and often results in localized roads flooding since drainage basins are blocked.

Daylight Savings Time Ending |
Change Your Clocks and Smoke Alarm Batteries
It's that time of year to "fall back" for the end of Daylight Saving Time on November 2.
The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department reminds you to prepare your home for fire emergencies by changing the batteries in your smoke alarm when you set your clock back. Most alarms need new batteries at least once a year and if your smoke alarm is more than 10 years old, replace it with a new alarm.

Route 53/120 Expansion Project |
Public Input Sessions in November
Since March 2014, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and its partners have undertaken a collaborative planning initiative to create a Land Use Plan for the proposed Illinois Route 53/120 corridor.
YOUR input will help ensure the Route 53/120 Corridor Land Use Plan will protect community assets - including vital natural resources and quality of life - and identify opportunities to improve recreation, increase access to transit, promote efficient and effective land use, and enhance economic development.
Upcoming open houses are scheduled for November 12 in Grayslake and November 19 at Lake Zurich High School.
