President's Message

First of all, a warm East Salem Rotary welcome to our newest member, Terry Ryan, who was inducted into our club last Friday! I know he will be a great asset to our club. If you are the head of a committee or project, be sure to let him know what your group does. He will be deciding which group(s) to join.

East Salem Rotarians joined employees and volunteers from Comcast this past Saturday to spiff up the grounds of La Placita. This joint effort honored Rotary at Work Day and Comcast Cares Day and was a great example of how neighborhood groups can make an impact. We weeded, painted, hauled brush and trash, and spread barkdust and dirt. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Our garage sale is nearly here -- and we still need your trash-to-treasures as well as your help in making this event happen. The first $500 earned goes to help McKay seniors pay for their caps and gowns.

Don't forget our drop-in social this Tuesday at Boone's Treasury between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.!

Club News

District Conference May 20-22

Whether it is the youth exchange talent show, the governor's dinner, learning about what is going on with Rotary clubs around the world, or just catching up with your Rotarian friends, district conference offers something for everyone. Go to www.iheartrotary.wordpress.com for more information or to register. There is no cost to attend the workshops, the only cost is for meals.

It has been wonderful having Iven and Rich back at club meetings with us. We hope for continued healing for each of them. Our thoughts and prayers are also with Ron Hanna and his wife Trish. Trish took a fall a few weeks ago and suffered severe head trauma. After several days in the hospital, she is home now and recovery is slow.

Join us at Boons Treasury, on Tuesday, May 3, anytime between 5pm and 7pm for a no-host happy hour.

Garage Sale - Time to Bring Your Stuff

We still need your stuff and your help. Don't forget to bring your items to the club meetings the next two Fridays and sign up for a shift. If you can't make it to a club meeting, email Pat and she can let you know what shifts are available. We will not be bringing items back to a club meeting. The garage sale will take place on May 14. A sign up sheet is going around to help on that day, so be sure to sign up for a shift.

Citywide Golf Tournament

The annual golf tournament will take place on Frid

ay, July 22 at Cross Creek Golf Course. We are looking for golfers, sponsors and people to buy a box of dictionaries. It is a four person scramble format so it will be fun for golfers of all levels. Any monies raised above the cost of golf and our portion of the dictionaries comes back into our club fundraising budget. Click here for the form for costs and to sign up for any of the above.
