President's Message
Our District Training Assembly was held this past Saturday up at West Linn High School. It was great to see people from other clubs whom I have met over the years, as well as a few of our local club presidents. It was heartening to see so many people focused on making their club better.
Congratulations to Kevin Mannix, who was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow pin +6 for his contributions to The Rotary Foundation last Friday. Don't forget that you can sign up for monthly donations to TRF -- even a small contribution is welcome!
Last Friday's luncheon was attended by some special guests. We had members of our local fire departments on hand to talk about the pallets of medical supplies they will be shipping down to Nogales, Mexico for the emergency response teams there. We also had Roberto, his wife and daughter from Nogales visit us. They performed a puppet show at Waldo on Thursday to demonstrate how children should react to a fire. The show was well received by the students; it is a show that Roberto has performed for many students in Mexico and the States and has led to a huge decrease in child deaths in fires. Erik Larson presented the family with gifts from the Made in Oregon store in thanks for their work.
Don't forget our Rotary at Work day this coming Saturday at La Placita! I'll see you there!

Club News
District Conference May 20-22
Join us at Boons Treasury, on Tuesday, May 3, anytime between 5pm and 7pm for a no-host happy hour.
Garage Sale - Time to Bring Your Stuff Time is winding down to bring your items for the garage sale. We only have two more weeks to gather your treasures. Please bring items to the club meeting on Friday. For larger items, please call Pat or Karin and arrangements will be made to price your item and get it to the garage sale. Items not sold at the garage sale will be taken to the Goodwill store just north of McKay. If there are items that you would like to have back if they do not sell, plan to be at McKay when the garage sale shuts down. We will not be bringing items back to a club meeting. The garage sale will take place on May 14. A sign up sheet is going around to help on that day, so be sure to sign up for a shift.
Citywide Golf Tournament
The annual golf tournament will take place on Friday, July 22 at Cross Creek Golf Course. We are looking for golfers, sponsors and people to buy a box of dictionaries. It is a four person scramble format so it will be fun for golfers of all levels. Any monies raised above the cost of golf and our portion of the dictionaries comes back into our club fundraising budget. Click here for the form for costs and to sign up for any of the above.
