GOOD LUCK!
Wish Tim Furnish and Coach John good luck as they head to Dallas, Texas to compete in the December North American Cup on the 13th-16th!
FROM THE COACH
"Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths."
-Arnold Schwarzenegger
Meet Daniel Betor
Dan has been fencing for a year and a half and his hard work is shown every time he is in the gym!

"Competing is fun because I get to fence other people outside of the club. I gain a lot of experience from going to tournaments. I'd have to say AFC's Kick-Off this past September was the most challenging tournament because it was my first  tournament not at NAFC. I fenced people more experienced than I was and I didn't know half of the people there. It was very different." In addition to practice, Dan also participate in Forge: Boxing Cross Training, plays the flute, and attends Dean Rusk Middle School.

For the rest of the season, Dan wants to compete in as many tournaments as he can. "Even though it's my first season of seriously competing, I'd love to go to Nationals this summer."

FENCER PROFILE
Meet Our NAFC Fencers!
Name:
Emma Turner

Age: 12

School:
Lovinggood Middle School

How long have you
been fencing?

Three months. I started at the beginning of the school year.

What made you interested in fencing?
I wanted to do something by myself. I didn't want to have to depend on other people for success.

What is the hardest thing to learn about fencing?
Footwork. I have lots of trouble with balance!

How does fencing compare to other sports you have participated in?
I've done soccer and swimming before. Fencing is cooler because you get to hit people! I have weapons to torment my brothers with.

What are some cool facts about yourself?
I'm a triplet- and the only girl. I play the clarinet.
