This week marks back to school for students at Pine Lane Elementary and Principal Jason Starkey is striving to make elementary school an experience his students will never forget. "The whole reason why most of us get into education is to make a difference, and to hopefully have kids that look back and have that teacher/administrator who really stood out and made a difference," says Starkey. President Obama encourages Douglas County students to 'dream big dreams'Pioneer Elementary preschool special education teacher Leslie Gresham had no idea that a simple letter to the president would result in a personal visit from Mr. Obama and a chance to tell him about early childhood education efforts here in Douglas County. This summer, she was astonished when she received a call from the White House. Gresham and three other letter writers from Colorado were chosen from the more than 40,000 letters the White House receives daily. The call was an invitation to dinner with the president on July 8. DCSD has more than 60 Early Childhood classrooms located in Parker, Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch, providing students with research-based and developmentally appropriate curriculum that is aligned with our kindergarten programs. Fiscal Oversight Committee seeks new members
Douglas County School District's Fiscal Oversight Committee (FOC) is seeking volunteers to serve a three year term, beginning September 2014.
