Dear DCSD Families,
Our thoughts are with the students, staff and families of Arapahoe High School today, following today's tragic shooting.
Following the incident, the Douglas County School District immediately took the precautionary measure of putting all schools on a Lock Out. We also notified all School Resource Officers, School Marshals and worked with local law enforcement to increase their presence at our schools.
A Lock Out means that our staff is on increased alert, all school doors are locked and any visitors to the school must show identification at the main entrance. Normal school activities continue indoor as planned.
At no time was there any indication of a threat to any of our students, staff or schools.
After consulting the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, we have determined that students will be released at normal time with additional supervision. After school activities will continue as scheduled, again with additional supervision.
The number one priority of the Douglas County School District is the safety of our students and staff in the schools.
We will continue to provide information as it becomes available on our website, www.dcsdk12.org, as well as the District's app.
