Second Annual Fruits & Veggies Challenge kicks off October 29th!
Elementary Students! Parents! It's time to gear up for the Put-Away-5-A-Day Fruits & Veggies Challenge, October 29-December 12. During the challenge, fruits and veggie consumption will be recorded at all sites participating in the school lunch program. The school wherein students eat the most produce per capita (at lunch) will win an all-school, all-expenses-paid 'off-the-charts' catered luncheon prepared by Chef Jason and his team for students, faculty, staff, and challenge volunteers. "This district-wide event is our way of encouraging families to eat 5 produce servings a day," said Nutrition Services Director Brent Craig. If you are interested in helping out at your school as a parent or staff volunteer, please call (303) 387-0336. "There are many ways students win the challenge," said Craig, "...first and foremost, they win by eating healthy."
