Cimarron teacher named a Raytheon 'Math Hero' When you visit Kim Kehr's school website, it's easy to see what subject she is most passionate about, because her page reads, "Math, the only subject that counts" in big bold letters. It's this passion for arithmetic that has earned the Cimarron Middle School eighth-grade teacher Raytheon's Math Hero Award. As part of its MathMovesU program, Raytheon honors effective math teachers, math coaches or math event coordinators who not only go out of their way to help students learn math, but find ways to instill a love for the subject. Youth Congress provides students opportunity to address issues that affect them
High school students are invited to attend the fifth annual Douglas County Youth Congress, an opportunity for our youth leaders to work with elected officials and other adults to address issues that affect the lives of Douglas County kids.
The event, which will be held on September 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, is open to all Douglas County high school students. Read more
District Accountability Committee to host Board of Education candidate forum
Board of Education candidates vying for four open seats this November will have an opportunity to share their positions during a forum hosted by DCSD's District Accountability Committee on Thursday, September 12. Candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions from moderator and former Parker mayor David Cassiano. The forum will be held in the Douglas County High School auditorium from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. DCHS is located at 2842 Front Street, in Castle Rock.
