A group of high school students are setting an impressive example of what Douglas County School District's tagline (Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow) means.

As the doors open throughout schools in Douglas County this month, it is not uncommon for students to feel inundated by all things new. The beginning of the academic year arrives with a clean slate, a fresh set of school supplies, new teachers and classmates, and for some, a new school altogether.


Many schools, however, begin the new school year with something old.

The latest TCAP results show that DCSD students have outpaced the state average in all grades and all content areas of the TCAP statewide performance test. On average, DCSD scored more than 12 percentage points above the state average.

Staying in touch and in-the-know is easier and more accessible than ever. Thanks to the support of Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, the DCSD mobile app is available for both iPhones and Droids again this year. Designed by Educational Measures and sponsored by Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children/HealthONE, the app is the first of its kind in Colorado and one of the first in the nation.
