Spring Into Speed Networking Event with Lake Murray Chamber

Dr. Ashley Adamson of HealthSource of Chapin will share advice for people who spend much of their day working behind a desk, as most of us now do. Support 19th Annual Chapin Chamber Golf Tournament
Calling all golfers and businesses interested in supporting this year's 19th Annual Chapin Chamber Golf Tournament! Mark your calendar to join us Thursday, May 16 at Timberlake Country Club. Registration opens at 9 am, with a 10 am shotgun start. You get a bucket of balls for the drivinng range, round of golf, lunch and post-game meal. There will be contests and giveaways. New this year - we're having a silent auction of sports memorabilia, featuring items from The Masters and other great golf events. Chapin Area Charitable Summit Planned
The Greater Chapin Community Endowment and the Chapin Chamber are hosting an informational meeting of the area's charitable concerns to see what opportunities exist for collaboration and cross-promotion. We also hope to identify needs that aren't being addressed and assess best practices that can enhance our community. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, starting at 6:30 pm with light refreshments and our program begins at 7 pm. Construction Help for CPC Lake Murray

CPC Lake Murray is looking for volunteers help them start construction at their 725c Chapin Rd location. Chapin Christian Gymnastics has offered CPC the front part of the building, which needs to be built out for their use as offices and counseling space. If you are a contractor willing to help or can provide building supplies to their ministry, please come to a meeting Friday April 12, at noon at the site to get a timeline and plan together.  CPC will be providing lunch for all the contractors and builders!!  Please contact Cathy FitzGerald, Project Coordinator, at catfitz@bellsouth.net as soon as possible to RSVP! 

 

Also CPC is looking for a CPA or Accountant with experience in labor law, payroll, taxes, etc. & that has a passion for the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Lake Murray to be on their board. Spotlight Artist of the Month - Al LeichtDays End by Al Leicht
Al Leitch is the Crooked Creek Art League's Spotlight Artist of the Month and his painting Days End will be on display at the Chamber House through April. Al retired in 2011 from the University of South Carolina after many years of service to the academic community. He had the privilege to teach many students over the years and the good fortune to be able to share his ideas with the academic and business community by publishing more than 50 journal articles and writing three books. He was honored by USC by being named Distinguished Professor Emeritus.

 

Upon retirement Al returned to an early love of art by attending pastel, watercolor and oil classes and workshops. He learned more than he ever imagined and was able to show some of his work at the State Fair and the Crooked Creek Art Exhibition. Most of all he has enjoyed making new friends in the Columbia art community. Al lives in Lexington with his wife Paula, has two adult sons Rob and Adam, and a daughter in law Arrington who is married to Rob.

  
"YARD SALE and MORE" at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church.
St Jacob's is having a Yard sale and Farmer's market, on Saturday, April 13th, from 8:00AM - 1:00PM, to raise funds for the upcoming St. Jacob's Youth mission trip. In addition to the yard sale, the farmers market, will feature produce, plants, handmade crafts and a bake sale. There will also be food/drinks available, along with an assortment of family games.

Boating Safety Class Scheduled for April 13
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is holding a boating safety course on Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 am to 5 pm at the American Legion Post 193, 102 Lexington Avenue. The class will feature information on operating boats, personal watercraft and trailering a boat as well as water sport safety, navigation aids, knot tying and emergency procedures.Pre-registration is required as class size is limited. As a member of the Midstate Chamber Coalition, we work with Midlands area chambers to promote our region and foster greater cooperation. We are also working closely with the Irmo Chamber as we share a number of members and have similar interests on this side of Lexington County.
  
Famously Hot Talent & Career Expo April 11
The Columbia Chamber and the Graduation Imperative are hosting the Famously Hot Talent and Career Expo- April 11, 2013. To register, please go to famouslyhotcareerexpo.eventbrite.com. Employers who are members of any Chamber of Commerce in the Columbia region will receive a reduced registration fee.
Irmo Chamber's Awards Banquet April 20
The Irmo Chamber is accepting nominations for its annual Red Carpet Gala and Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at the DoubleTree on Bush River Road.  

Community of Character Service Day - April 13   

Interested in volunteering for Chapin's annual Community of Character Service Day, Saturday, April 13? Churches, civic groups, school students, businesses and individuals are making a difference by volunteering in a variety of clean-up and service activities all over Chapin. The Chamber will have the American Legion Auxiliary and Chapin Garden Club sprucing up our campus on Community Service Day. If you have a young person needing community service hours, we would welcome having some strong youth help us out with our beautification efforts. We will get started at 8:30 am Saturday morning.
