It's a Spring Thing! Chapin Area Spring Open House Planned
There is still space available to participate in this year's Spring Open House. Join merchants, restaurants and other businesses from Little Mountain to Ballentine as they offer great specials, extended hours and lots of giveaways from Thursday, April 18 through Sunday, April 21. Last year several non-retail businesses participated in the Thursday evening activities, hosting drop-ins to allow clients and others to learn more about their business. The cost to participate is $65 and includes you in all the marketing materials (brochure, Facebook page, Chamber website, etc.) Call Meri Ellen Ringer at 932-0699 to sign up today!
  

Community of Character Service Day - April 13

Planning continues for Chapin's annual Community of Character Service Day which is scheduled for Saturday, April 13. Churches, civic groups, school students, businesses and individuals all rally to make a difference by volunteering in a variety of clean-up and service activities that bring us closer together. To sign up for a project, click here for a form. They are keeping a list of community projects as well as matching volunteers looking to help out.

 

Kari Pepper McKeone is leading this year's planning and she is looking for businesses to offer discounts and special incentives to their customers who have participated in the Service Day. Volunteers can redeem the offers by showing their Service Day Certificate. Chapin Theatre's Simply Divided Starts Tomorrow

Tickets are still available for this weekend's showings of comedy, Simply Divided, which runs March 15-16 (8 pm), March 17 (3 pm), March 21, 22, 23 (8 pm) and closes on March 24 (3 pm). Order tickets online atwww.chapintheatre.org, or by phone at 800-838-3006. Tickets are also available at the door at the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College, 7300 College St., Irmo, SC 29063. 

In addition, they will be holding auditions for their next two shows - Mama Won't Fly - directed by Cynthia Gilliam on March 16 and 17 from 5-7 pm and Unnecessary Farce - directed by Glenn Farr on March 23, 5-7 pm, and March 24, 6-7:30 pm. Actors are encouraged to arrive at 5 pm, as auditions may end early at the director's discretion. 8 pm) and June 23 (3 pm). Perusal scripts are available for a $10 cash deposit. Irmo-Chapin Ducks Unlimited Banquet - Thursday, March 21 at 6 pm

As a member of the Midstate Chamber Coalition, we work with Midlands area chambers to promote our region and foster greater cooperation. We are also working closely with the Irmo Chamber as we share a number of members and have similar interests on this side of Lexington County.
  
Medicaid Expansion - Should SC Participate? 
Business Roundtable Breakfast - March 28 at 7:15 am - Doubletree Inn
The Columbia and Lexington Chambers are co-hosting an informative breakfast for the entire community to learn about the pros and cons of the pending health care issue facing South Carolina.  According to Ike McLeese, Columbia Chamber, and Randy Halfacre, Lexington Chamber, "the decision regarding Medicaid expansion is probably the single most critical public policy facing South Carolina in this decade. The implications are staggering and everyone needs to understand the potential impacts facing health care in our State." 
 
There will be a panel discussion featuring Tony Keck, director of SC Health & Human Services Dept., Thornton Kirby, President & CEO of the SC Hospital Association, and Chuck Beaman, Palmetto Health. Moms with Heart Yard Sale - Saturday, March 16

The Moms with Heart Team of Chapin is nearing the final stretch of its campaign to support heart healthy behaviors and pediatric research for heart defects. Come out for their Yard Sale this Saturday from 7 - 11 am at Eagle Beach Tanning located at 203 Amicks Ferry Road. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association. Chapin Recycling Day - March 23 from 10 am - 1 pm

Join RE/MAX Real Estate Consultants for their second annual recycling collection at their parking lot, located at 1303 Chapin Road. They are partnering with Shred 360 to take old documents and electronic equipment for recycling; used household items for His House Ministries, usable cell phones for US soldiers serving overseas and canned food items for Chapin's We Care.
