Now - March 31st

Come visit the Western's Maryland Room's new exhibit celebrating the history of industry in Washington County! See a Beachley saleman's sample chair, a watering trough invented by Foltz to deal with freezing, a beaver fur top hat by Updegraff Hat and Glove, a Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing book press, and more!

Open to the Public during regular WMR hours.

Leap into March at WCFL! Spring is just around the corner and with warmer weather comes more exciting programs at Washington County Free Library! This month is full of great activities including family movie events, live music, author talks, and historical lectures. We're also celebrating Youth Art Month in the Children's Department and Teen Tech Week in our Young Adult area - with the first opportunity for teens to use our 3D printer!

 Paint Nite Fundraiser for the Library!
Monday, April 18th @ 7:00pm 
Hager Hall Event & Conference Center

Love to express yourself creatively? Come paint with a purpose! Show your support for Washington County Free Library!

A master artist will give the group step-by-step instructions to create a work of art - while you socialize and sip cocktails from the cash bar. All attendees go home with a masterpiece and great memories. No art experience needed! Visit our event page for more details!

David Quinn

Join the author for a discussion of his book Steel Shamrocks: The Sons of Annie McKenna.
Whether defending the Union from Antietam to Appomattox or helping to build a new industrial and political order, the McKenna men and their remarkable mother are emblematic of the many contributions Irish-Americans have made to a great nation. 
Copies of the book will be available to purchase after the lecture.

Wednesday, March 9th @ 6:00pm: 3D Printing  

This workshop is for teen in grades 8-12 who are interested in learning about 3D Printing using WCFL's new Lulzbot Taz 5! Explore the art of creating 3-dimensional prints!

Thursday, March 10th @ 6:30pm: Hour of Code

Try your hand at computer coding with simple programs! Learn how to give commands to your computer, creating your own software.

 Registration for both programs is required. Call the YA Department at 301-739-3250 x270 to sign up.
Teen Idol 2016 

Saturday, April 2nd @ 7:00pm 
at the Maryland Theatre

Come enjoy an evening of entertainment and cheer on your favorite performers! See which talented artist is crowned Teen Idol 2016!

Tickets purchased in advance through the Maryland Theatre Box Office are $10, tickets at the door at $15.

Youth Art Month: Bookmark 
Design Contest
March 1st-31st 

The Children's Department is hosting a Design-a-Bookmark contest! Winning bookmarks will be printed and available across the county during National Library Week in April. Visit our webpage for contest rules and the official entry form!
