Holiday preparations are in full swing and Washington County Free Library has plenty of activities for patrons of all ages to help you celebrate the season! From lectures on Hagerstown's Historic Houses of Worship, to special Christmas Crafting programs for kids and a Toy Maker workshop for Teens, to a visit from the big man in red himself, we hope you'll drop by Fletcher Library to join in on the holiday fun!

 

There are also plenty of seasonal activities happening across the county! Our Sharpsburg Library is hosting a special holiday concert, Smithsburg and Clear Spring are having Open Houses, and several library branches are offering crafts, themed story times, movie nights, and other fun events! Hagerstown's Historic Houses of Worship
Tuesday, December 15th @ 7:00pm

 Architectural historian Dr. Paula S. Reed will give a talk about Historic Houses of Worship in Downtown Hagerstown. The presentation serves as a prelude to the annual Historic Houses of Worship Tour scheduled for Dec. 26, 2015

The Holiday Tour of Historic Houses of Worship takes place in downtown Hagerstown and the surrounding neighborhoods each year right after Christmas. Visitors may enjoy tours, interpretations, and seasonal music. Volunteer hosts greet visitors and answer questions about the history of the churches. Meet the Author @ The Library

John Beakes
Wednesday, December 9th @ 7:00pm

Join well-known historian and author John Beakes for a discussion of his newest title: Otho Holland Williams in The American Revolution.

This book is the third biography in the series of George Washington's best officers. Other books in the series include "Cool Deliberate Courage" John Edgar Howard in the American Revolution and "Light Horse Harry" Lee in the War for Independence.
