Special Event: Civil War in Your Attic
Share Your Family's History with the World Do you have family letters, diaries, drawings, documents, photos or other items from the Civil War era? On November 17th, you can get them professionally scanned for inclusion in the statewide collection of Maryland Digital Cultural Heritage. The project focuses on items created between 1859 and 1867 that reflect life around the time of the Civil War and early Reconstruction periods. Items you bring must be originals (not photocopies) and should not be copyrighted. Make an appointment to bring them to the Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9:00 to 3:30, and Jill Craig, the Library's expert archivist, will meet with you and scan them. You can receive a copy of the scans, if you like, and they will become a permanent part of Maryland's heritage, on line at MDCH. For an appointment, or to ask any questions, please contact Jill at 301-739-3250, ext. 142, or [email protected]. |
