On February 14, 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT set a new production car world speed record by reaching a top speed of 270.49 mph (435.31 km/h). The test was performed at the Kennedy Space Center on the 3.2-mile Space Shuttle landing runway and driven by Brian Smith, Director of Miller Motorsports Park. A representative from Racelogic, world-renowned maker of VBox GPS data-acquisition systems, was on hand to independently verify and document the Venom GT's highest recorded speed. Built on a carbon fiber & composite/aluminum hybrid monocoque space frame and powered by a twin turbocharged 7.0L (427ci) V8, the Hennessey Venom GT makes 1244HP but weighs only 2743 lbs. Victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring!
The second event of the 2014 IMSA United SportsCar series brought teams to the legendary Sebring International Raceway for the famous 12 Hours of Sebring. A race known for being especially brutal (thanks to a combination of an unusually bumpy race circuit, the hot Florida temperatures, and a grueling 12 hour endurance format), it would prove to be a serious of test of teams, race cars, and wheels.
But as they almost always do, Forgeline's racing customers met this challenge head on, overcame adversity, and beat the odds with wins and podium finishes in multiple classes, including a major endurance win for Magnus Racing and their Porsche 911 GT America in the new United SportsCar GTD class!

New 8.5 inch Forged Monoblock Widths
Forgeline one piece forged monoblock wheels continue to grow in popularity. And, of course, a new range of applications to meet this growing demand also requires new sizes. But unlike a three piece wheel (which is easy to assemble in varying widths), offering additional sizes of one piece forged monoblock wheels is more complicated and often requires engineering and stocking entirely new sets of forgings.
As of February 2014, we have received our latest shipment of new forgings that allow us to produce 8.5 inch widths in 19 and 20 inch diameters. So effective immediately, all Forgeline one piece forged monoblock wheels are now available in 19x8.5 and 20x8.5 inch sizes.
