Prayer to St. Andrew the Apostle

Feast, November 30

O glorious St. Andrew, you were the first to recognize and follow the Lamb of God. With your friend, St. John, you remained with Jesus for that first day, for your entire life, and now throughout eternity. As you led your brother, St. Peter, to Christ and many others after him, draw us also to Him. Teach us to lead others to Christ solely out of love for Him and dedication in His service. Help us to learn the lesson of the Cross and to carry our daily crosses without complaint so that they may carry us to Jesus. Amen.

Recovery & Relief....Thank You
Stockton College Students
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the people and parish communities in our diocese and beyond who are enduring the effects of Hurricane Sandy.  Thank you to many youth and young adult ministries who helped collect relief supplies, donated money, volunteered their time and reflected on their service.

On Sunday, November 4th, seventeen students from various backgrounds at Stockton College gathered together on a cold morning and traveled to St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Northfield.  Please click here to read the entire reflection by Roberto Nieves of the Stockton College Campus Ministry.

Here's a brief reflection written by Julie La Rosa from The Church of the Holy Family in Sewell:

We went to Wildwood, NJ- St. Ann's. It was definitely eye opening to see how many people were coming to lend a hand. We were able to hear stories from many people displaced from their homes and living in hotels. The shear generosity of so many really opened my eyes and personally showed me just how awesome our faith is, and that our faith has the ability to move mountains and make a difference.

Christ was present in everyone there, and more so in the hurricane victims, many of whom came with just the clothes on their backs. We were literally providing blankets and coats to those who were cold. One young mother with an infant didn't even have a blanket for her baby. The baby was just in pajamas.  Someone gave her a blanket and the mom started to cry because her baby would be warm.

Year of Faith Opportunities with Youth & Young Adults

# 5 Promotion of missions and the task of giving witness -
Origins, January 2012

  • create a "mission and service resource list" of organizations and websites that serve those in need, distribute it to all families and on the parish website - encourage youth, young adults and families to engage in service activities within and beyond the parish
  • provide families with an "ideas" list of ways they can nurture a "lifestyle" of justice and service as a family - emphasize a scriptural understanding of stewardship
  • provide instructions for a simple "debriefing" process that individuals and families can use to reflect on their service experiences:  include conversation starters, information on Catholic Social Teaching, scripture references and ideas for prayer
  • address what it means to "give witness" to faith not only in acts of service, but in daily living at home, school, work, sports fields, on the road, online, through our words, attitudes and interactions.

Invite from Infant Jesus Parish
Infant JesusIf you are interested in having your teens encounter Jesus Christ in a real and life-changing way, then read on...

First, I want to mention that the only thing this requires on your part is to just simply give your teens the brochure and tell them about it. Beyond that, there is no further work required of you!

But I wanted to reach out to you and invite the teens of your parish to head out with us at Youth Life to the Steubenville High School Youth Conference in Ohio from June 28-June 30. It is an amazing, energy-packed weekend with more than 2,000 teens and NOT your average, "boring" run-of-the-mill retreat experience!
