Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Salutes New Britain

The New Britain community's collective efforts at tackling early childhood development issues - of which the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain's First Years First initiative is a major part - is continuing to receive national notice. On Friday, May 10, Ralph E. Smith, Managing Director of the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and Senior Vice President of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, was in town from Baltimore to honor the City, the New Britain Early Childhood Collaborative, the Consolidated School District of New Britain, the Community Foundation and numerous other community and education partners as New Britain was designated a "Pacesetter Community." Read more...
