Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading begins June 14 and runs through August 16. Readers ages 3-12 are encourage to read books at home for fun and for a chance to win prizes. Registration begins on June 14. You may register at any one of the three libraries or from your home computer. Participants keep track of time spent reading and earn free prizes, books, and more! Fun & Free throughout the summer!
Ask about Early Literacy Program for children birth - age 3. We have programs for Teens & Adults, too!

Skippy and Dave
This musical adventure finds Skippy and Dave exploring Ancient Egypt, and features puppets, ventriloquism, music, and humorous dialog. Join Skippy, Dave, and York (a mummy dummy!) in this delightful tale of imagination and archaeological make believe. Songs are performed live, and will include, 'Monster Mash", and other favorites, in this imaginative program.

Animals Around the World
Take an exciting look at animals from all around our world in this live animal presentation. Topics covered include habitats, senses, physical differences, defenses, myth, truths and instincts. Animals presented will represent a variety of continents and vertebrae groups..

Animals of the Rainforest
This exotic presentation will focus on the importance of preserving the rainforest environment, including its diverse inhabitants. Live animals will be introduced throughout the show, as we discover: where the rainforests are, why they are there, the 'layers' of a rainforest with the flora and fauna in each. We learn how to best preserve the rainforest which is necessary for a healthy atmosphere.

Our Rivers, Our Lakes: A Celebration in Words
The Friends of the Grosse Pointe Public Library and the Grosse Pointe Art Center are co-sponsoring a program in conjunction with the Center's exhibition Our Rivers, Our Lakes, which opens on July 26, 2013. Poets Alison Swan and Terry Blackhawk who will read poems they have written in response of our natural environment among the Great Lakes. David Swan will speak on his and Alison Swan's efforts to save the Saugatuck dunes. David and Alison are the recipients of the Petosky Prize for Grassroots Environmental Leadership.

Adult Summer Reading Program
As always, the library believes adults should have as much fun as young people during the summer. To further this cause, we encourage you to read as much as you want and win prizes for doing so. Read, listen or download as many books as you like, whatever you like, and record your titles online. Each online entry will count as one chance in our prize drawings. Throughout the summer there will be drawings at each branch and at the end of August a grand prize winner will be chosen. Read, relax, and win prizes! It's summer in the Grosse Pointes! The Adult Summer Reading Program will run from June 14 through August 16.

An Evening with Author David Rosenfelt
A Joint Fundraiser, sponsored by

David Rosenfelt is the author of the popular "Andy Carpenter" mystery series and has also established the Tara Foundation, a dog rescue group that has rescued and placed over 3,000 dogs. David's latest book, Dogtripping, is due out this July. There will be a LIVE AUCTION to win having YOU named as a character in David's next book!
