SPRING BREAK VOLUNTEERING
|
Looking for a free and meaningful activity to do with your family over Spring Break?
Volunteer in our processing center to sort, sticker and bag books.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities.
DROP IN HOURS:
Mondays: 3:30 -5:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Wednesdays: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Fridays: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Saturdays: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Perhaps even more so, I am so looking forward to getting back to that warehouse and getting my hands into those book piles as a volunteer!"

Our Mission

Bernie's Book Bank collects, processes and distributes quality new and gently used children's books to significantly increase BOOK OWNERSHIP among at-risk infants, toddlers and school age children throughout Chicagoland.
We have distributed over
3.7 MILLION books since December 2009 and now serve more than 100,000 at-risk children annually.

Our Goal

To collect, process and distribute 4 MILLION books per year, serving all estimated 400,000 at-risk children in the Chicagoland area with 12 quality books per year by 2016.

Mark your calendar for family fun!  The Chicago Parent Playdate will be held at The Accelerated Center in Northbrook from
10 a.m.-4 p.m. on April 26, 2015.
Packed with lots of opportunities for engaging hands-on fun and top-notch local entertainment, the Chicago Parent
Playdate will feature activities such as:
Speed Pitch with the Schaumburg Boomers, Pop-A-Shot with the Chicago Sky, sports games, train rides, bounce houses, face painting and a bungee run like no other.The Playdate will have an entertainment stage supported by media partner 101.9 FM WTMX The Mix with kids' performers Istvan & His Imaginary Band, Miss Jamie's Farm, Rita Rose, Storytown Improv, Tunes & Balloons by Great Scott, Mary Macaroni, The Storybook Mom, Light Opera Works, and Fairytale Theater by Golden Feather Productions.
A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Bernie's Book Bank!
Families who donate five used books for Bernie's Book Bank will receive a special Chicago Parent backpack.
