WINTER/SPRING INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE

We had a great fall with our Marketing Intern, Maggie Hays. She did a great job for us as we continue to grow our internship program.  Unfortunately for us, her internship program is finished. We will miss Maggie but she'll always be part of the Bernie's Book Bank family!

So that means we have 2 internships open for the Winter/Spring semester!  We're looking for go-getters interested in Non-profit Management and/or Communications & Marketing.  You'll gain valuable professional experience and have fun! Both positions are eligible for college credit.

MEET OUR NEW DISTRIBUTION SPECIALIST

Please welcome our newest Distribution Specialist, Andy Donovan!  He will be working with our growing Collections & Distribution team to collect, process and distribute quality books to the children we serve!

Andy heard about Bernie's Book Bank through a family member who teaches at a school that is served by the organization and who also volunteers.  He was drawn in by our "efficiency, focus, and reach."

A recent graduate of University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a degree in Community Health Education, Andy is eager to establish a career in outreach.  He has a passion for strategies which empower youth with the tools to gain ownership of their education and their future.  He brings a background in grant writing, public health, and university research.

He is looking forward to establishing positive relationships with the schools, WIC Centers and the children served by Bernie's Book Bank.  Andy says he's optimistic about the future and "proud to be a part of the organization that will continue to have such profound impact in the Chicago area."

A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN

Dear Fellow Berniacs,

For me, December always means reflecting on the past 12 months but also looking forward to the year ahead.

We, YOU and us,  have accomplished so much over the past year.  We have a lot to celebrate.

What is most important is that by year's end, we will have reached our goal for the year to collect, process and distribute more than 1.3 MILLION quality children's books to more than 100,000 at-risk children all over the Chicagoland.

In addition, we have laid a solid foundation for tremendous growth in 2015 as we march forward to serve every at-risk child in Chicagoland with 12 books a year from birth thru 6th grade.

2015 is shaping up to be a monumental year in the history of Bernie's Book Bank, so put on your seatbelts...the next 12 months will be an awesome ride!

On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of children we serve, our team and our Board of Directors, have the happiest of holidays and thank you for all you do to help us provide Books for a Better Life for so many children that need them.
