THANK YOU TO FAMILY 5,000 CLUB
We are so grateful to all of the families that joined the FAMILY 5,000 CLUB to

and set a family goal of collecting 5,000 books!  They reached out to neighbors, friends and family, got creative and worked hard!  Meet two of the families who reached their goal!

The Stein Family of Volo

"Yeah we did it!...5,336 books with 57 generous donors! What an amazing experience this was for our family! It was like Christmas when we would return home and find a box or bag of books on our door step. We are so very thankful that our family, friends and neighbors were so generous with their donations so we could help get books in the hands of those children who otherwise would not have them!"

The McLean Family of Libertyville

"My family (my mom, Irene Karnazes, my 3 daughters, (Emily, Maddy and Ally) along with myself and my husband Dave) all wanted to help get more books into kids hands.

So, what better way than to collect 5,000 books for Bernie's Book Bank!  We had amazing connections and the people who helped us out were so wonderful in achieving our goal this summer!  A huge thank you to the head librarian, Tanya Surdick at Butterfield School, The lovely people at Libertyville Covenant Church, and our friends and family for all of their donations as well!

It takes a community to come together to help out thesechildren and that is just what the people of Libertyville did! What a great experience for such a terrific and worthwhile cause! We should really be thanking YOU for all we gained."

A Message from Brian

Dear Fellow Berniacs,

It's always amazing how summer comes...and summer goes.

We have had a wonderful summer at Bernie's Book Bank and very proud of our record summer; from book collections, to volunteer hours, to books distributed and children served.

We are so grateful for the continued confidence and support of all of our volunteers, ambassadors, champions, funders, book donors, event committee members and Board of Directors who make it all possible.

But this month, I'd like to celebrate our STAFF!

We have an unbelievable team of highly skilled and dedicated staff and interns who continue to work hard every day to not only serve more children but become a better organization.

I appreciate their love for the mission, sacrifice, unity, compromise, professionalism, humor, collaboration, care, dedication to excellence, willingness to grow, grace, belief, patience and most of all, GRIT.

At Bernie's Book Bank we subscribe to some age-old sage advice when a challenge arises, "rub some dirt on it"!

I must say that I am proud and honored to "rub some dirt on it" with our family of staff, THANK YOU!
