Huge Thank You to
Garvey's Office Products-The Nice Guys in Office Supplies! And nice guys they are! Dan Garvey, Owner of Garvey's, stopped by the processing center to present us with a check for $7,305.98 from their "Recycle for a Reason" recycling program.
Each quarter, they pool the money from recycling empty toner cartridges and donated electronics from their customers and raise money for local charities! We are so grateful to be their 1st Quarter of 2014 recipient!

We are very  excited to be one of the charitable beneficiaries of the new thrift store, Forest and Found, located at 1363 N. Western Ave. in Lake Forest. This new shop features a curated collection of locally donated finds and has plans to showcase the work of nearby artists and craftsmen. All of their profits are donated to support local organizations, like us! Now you have a guilt-free reason to shop!

Bernie's Book Bank collects, processes and distributes quality new and gently used children's books to significantly increase BOOK OWNERSHIP among at-risk infants, toddlers and school age children throughout Chicagoland.
We have distributed more than 2 MILLION books since December 2009 and now serve more than 80,000 at-risk children annually.

To collect, process and distribute 4 MILLION books per year, serving all 300,000 at-risk children in the Chicagoland area with 12 quality books per year by 2016.

| MARK YOUR CALENDAR | |
The 105th Spring Fair will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest.
A cherished tradition for more than 100 years, the annual Spring Fair at CHS is open to the community and offers fun activities for all ages.
There will be a carnival with children's rides and games, as well as food, drink, bake sale and a silent auction.
All proceeds go to further Mission & Outreach at CHS - we are honored to be one of their recipients!
Midwest Young Artists, a local non-profit whose mission is to build a home with the power of music to enrich the lives of their students and community, is hosting a book drive to support Bernie's Book Bank.
From May 3 to May 18, you can donate books and check our their programs at their magnificent rehearsal facility at Fort Sheridan in Highwood. You are also invited to attend the MYA Music & Fun Fest on Sunday, May 18 from 12-5:30 pm - a free community event featuring performances by their student ensembles!

Do we dare say, "spring has sprung?"
After a very long winter, it is awesome to finally start hearing the birds chirping, feel the warmth of the sun & to see brown turn to green.
We invite you to come laugh with us! Consider:
- joining the Family 5,000 Club as a way to spend meaningful time together as a family this summer.
- volunteering on a weekly basis - you will make great friends here.
- doing some grassroots fundraising for Bernie's Book Bank with your family & friends (lemonade stand, garage sale or bake sale).
