BOOK LOVERS' LUNCH A HUGE SUCCESS
| |
We were honored to spend the day with Bestselling Author Lisa Genova and the 120 guests who attended the 2nd Annual Book Lovers' Lunch at Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff on Friday, May 3rd. The theme of the lunch was "Anything is Possible." Lisa gave an engaging and eloquent speech about her own journey to success and how that connects to giving at-risk children books for a better life. We raised enough money to collect, process and redistribute another 80,000 quality children's books, which supplies more that 20,000 at risk Chicagoland children with 6 books each!
We want to say a huge thank y'ou to everyone who attended and the Book Lovers Committee who made the day memorable: Co-chairs Jacqueline Babb and Maureen Grinnell, and Committee members Allison Derr, Robin Ford, Melissa Jarmel, Heather Wojda and Romain Wojda.

RADIO DISNEY IS COMING TO BERNIE'S BOOK BANK!
We're helping Radio Disney celebrate 30 years of VoluntEARS with music, dancing, games and prizes!
Radio Disney AM 1300 will be at our processing center in Lake Forest on Thursday, May 30 from 6 pm to 7pm for a fun-filled hour of the latest Radio Disney hits, dancing, games and prizes! You can even spend some time volunteering to sticker books for Bernie's Book Bank!

Bernie's Book Bank facilitates the collection, processing and redistribution of quality new and gently used children's books to significantly increase BOOK OWNERSHIP among
at-risk infants, toddlers and school age children living throughout Chicagoland.
We have distributed more than 1 MILLION books since 2009.
We will distribute 1 MILLION more quality books in 2013.

COME SEE US AT SPRING FAIR DAY 2013

 Come see us this Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the 104th Spring Fair Day at Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest. This cherished event has been a Lake Forest tradition for more than 100 years, is open to the community and offers fun activities for all ages. There will be a carnival with children's rides, games, food & drinks, bake sale and silent auction.
The Church of the Holy Spirit has been a huge supporter of Bernie's Book Bank, so we'll hope to see you at this fun family event! Stop by the Bernie's Book Bank demonstration area and say hi!

Dear Fellow Berniacs,
Congratulations to YOU!
Because of your hard work, support and dedication, April was an epic month at Bernie's Book Bank as we collected, processed and redistributed more than 92,000 quality children's books to more than 15,000 at-risk Chicagoland children.
I'd also like to send a special thanks to our Book Lovers' Lunch Committee, author Lisa Genova, staff and all who attended and/or supported the event for a successful and fun day.
We are very excited about our progress towards 1 MILLION books a year this year and hope that you will help us to continue to spread the word.
I'd like to encourage you to tell just 1 person you know about Bernie's Book Bank and the work that we do by simply forwarding this newsletter on to them.
We have some really fun family events coming up in the near future and I'm sure they'd love to hear about them. AND, I bet they'd enjoy learning about our NEW Family 5,000 Club too!
