While we are all feeling a little disappointment with the final play of the Super Bowl, we can all relish the wonderful entertainment that the Seahawks have provided the whole year long.

Our office has been rooting for the Hawks along with the rest of the community, and have shared a number of photo's throughout the season on our Facebook page.

Castell Insurance's fan base might be a tad smaller than the Seahawks and we know you are just as loyal and devoted.
We thank you.

Team Castell  is devoted to providing our client's with excellent products and service.

Figured that a smile was a good way to commiserate the final outcome of the Superbowl on Sunday.  Good to know -
1.23 billion chicken wings will be eaten on Super Bowl Sunday, nearly four for every American.  Yum Yum!

Tips for Using your Insurance in 2015
  • Call your insurance carrier and tell them the name of your Primary Care Physician (PCP), this will allow you to pay the lowest co-pays possible.
  • Consider filling prescriptions you take daily via mail order and getting a 90 supply.
  • Utilize your preventive benefits such as: a flu shot, an annual physical, mammogram, or colonoscopy.
  • If your plan is through the Washington Health Plan Finder make sure your payment is paid before the 23rd of every month.
  • Consider setting up auto pay for your monthly premium, this way your payment is always made on time, even if you are on vacation.
  • Show your insurance card every time you go to the doctor, chiropractor, acupuncturist, or pharmacy so that all of your services are being billed through your insurance and counting towards your deductible.
  • If you have doubts about wether a doctor/provider is in-network or preferred call the phone number on the back of your card and verify the doctors participation before your appointment.

Home & Auto
I nearly did it.  I nearly went against my frugal instincts and bought a new truck last week.  I have vowed to myself that I would never have 2 auto loan payments at once but the shiny new pick up that had just been delivered to our local dealer nearly made me throw caution to the wind.  NEARLY.  My penny pinching ways won out and that lovely new truck went home with some other lucky buyer.

Out of curiosity during the early excitement stage, I wanted to run some numbers to see how much more the new truck would cost me on my auto insurance.  I was quite surprised to find out that a brand new $30k truck only increased my insurance premiums by less than $5/month.  The newer vehicle would be more costly to replace if damaged, but it also carries so many new safety standards which reduce other aspects like liability and medical payments resulting from a possible collision.

This seemed like valuable information I should disperse to you all seeing that there are so many smoking hot deals on leftover 2014 stock vehicles right now.

Give us a call to find out how a brand new car might affect your auto insurance. You might be pleasantly surprised by the results!

The Medicare Annual Disenrollment (ADP)

January 1   -   February 14

During this period you can dis-enroll from your Medicare Advantage plan and return to traditional Medicare.

In Clallam County we have two Medicare Advantage plans available for 2015.  They are the Regence Classic MAPD or the Group Health Clear Care MAPD.

Both plans have had pretty significant premium increases for 2015, and we have found many folks shopping around to review their options.

If you are under age 65 and on one of these plans your dis-enrollment options are limited to returning to traditional Medicare and adding a Medicare Part D Rx Plan.

If you are over age 65 then in addition to the Medicare Part D,  you would also have the option to purchase a Medicare Supplement.

If you would like to pursue this option please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to serving you as your local insurance agency, for your entire medical, financial and property insurance needs.

Finance
January 2015 is history and so are most New Year's resolutions!

That said, now is a perfect time of year to make an appointment to review your financial situation and ensure your game plan is still appropriate.

January is the time of year when people receive their year-end investment statements and now in February come all the tax documents.

It is a fact that a good number of portfolio's I review are positioned either too conservatively where people are losing purchasing power due to the effects of inflation eroding the investment, or they are too aggressive, frequently even without them realizing that fact.

If you would like to re-examine your portfolio or investments in a relaxed friendly atmosphere, please feel free to send me an email or give me a call and we can schedule an appointment.
