The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is pleased to share information about the upcoming Organic Certifier Survey being conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). We are also highlighting a public comment opportunity from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

NASS Initiates Certifier Survey

The AMS National Organic Program is pleased to announce the upcoming start to the Organic Certifier Survey, conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). This initiative will collect data from organic certifiers about organic production for calendar years 2014 and 2015.

AMS anticipates that the Organic Integrity Database (INTEGRITY) will ultimately become the tool by which certifiers can report these data, streamlining data collection and reporting. INTEGRITY was built to include all the data fields covered by the NASS survey to facilitate this future transition.

FDA Invites Public Comment

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requesting scientific data, information, and comments that would help the Agency to develop a risk assessment for produce grown in fields or other growing areas amended with untreated biological soil amendments of animal origin (including raw manure). Comments are due by May 3, 2016.
