Organic Integrity from Farm to Table Consumers Trust the Organic Label
Announcement
February 2, 2016
The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP) has updated the National List Sunset Dates. We are also pleased to highlight the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service's (NASS) plans to conduct the 2015 Certified Organic Survey.
NOP Updates National List Sunset Dates
The National Organic Program has published an update to the Program Handbook. This updated document, NOP 5611: National List Sunset Dates replaces the August 27, 2015 version. Changes to the document reflect the removal of fortified cooking wine from the National List resulting from the 2015 sunset review process and the removal of two expired materials from the National List (streptomycin and tetracycline).
USDA to Gather New Data on Organic Agriculture Production
Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) announced it has begun conducting the 2015 Certified Organic Survey to gather up-to-date data on certified organic crops and livestock in the United States. This special survey effort is critical to help determine the economic impact of certified organic agriculture production in the United States.
USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) facilitates the competitive and efficient marketing of agricultural products. Through its National Organic Program, AMS facilitates trade and ensures the integrity of organic agricultural products by consistently implementing organic standards and enforcing compliance with the regulations throughout the world.
